Like many Baptist congregations, we have a diverse membership that spans the theological spectrum ranging from progressive "Mainline Protestants" to members with more conservative "Evangelical" beliefs. Democrats and Republicans worship together on a weekly basis. We are proud of our diversity because it reflects the community where we worship and serve. We believe that every Christian is a priest and can interpret scripture with God's help within the context of the Christian community. Everyone's contribution is essential and valid. Our diversity makes us stronger because we have an opportunity to learn from each other.

As an American Baptist congregation, we affirm the ABCUSA's Identity Statement; "We Are American Baptists." The Identity Statement is not a binding creed, and affirmation of it is not required for membership in the American Baptist family or membership in First Baptist Church. Rather, it is an overview that expresses the beliefs of the majority of people in our denomination today.
